The New Testament is filled with verses that command us to share Jesus with those who don’t know him. It doesn’t matter what age you are; it doesn’t matter if you are healthy or not; it doesn’t matter how much money you have. You are commissioned by the Lord to bring the hope of the Gospel to the world. It’s our time.
THE WORD
Here are ten verses showing that you should be involved in spreading the hope of the gospel (and there are many more):
“The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” Matthew 9:37
“Go…and preach the Good News to everyone.” Mark 16:15
“This message would be proclaimed…to all the nations.” Luke 24:47
“The fields are already ripe for harvest.” John 4:35
“You will be my witnesses, telling people…everywhere.” Acts 1:8
“Bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.” Acts 13:41
“Telling others about…the wonderful grace of God.” Acts 20:24
“How can they hear unless someone tells them?” Romans 10:14
“Preach…where the name of Christ has never been heard.” Romans 15:20
“We are Christ’s ambassadors.” 2 Corinthians 5:20
THE WORLD
There are 8.2 billion people in the world today. In the next 25 years, there will be two billion more. You could reach some of these. There are about 2.2 billion children under the age of fifteen. You could reach some of these. There are about 1.2 billion young people between the ages of fifteen to twenty-four. You could reach some of these. There are almost one billion who are over sixty-five years of age, predominantly in Australia, Europe and North America. You could reach some of these.
There are 2.4 billion who profess to be Christians, but many of these are not true believers. There are 1.9 billion Muslims, 1.3 billion who say they have no religion, 1.2 billion Hindus, and half a billion Buddhists. All of these need to hear the good news of salvation.
THE WORK
It will take commitment and Holy Spirt power to tell all these people about Jesus, but you can do it. If you are young, you can go. Ask God to show you a place where you can serve. If you are older, your ministry can be praying, giving and partnering with others who do go.
You can be a part of God’s great plan of redemption. Everyone without exception needs to be committed to this ministry of reconciliation. When you meet Jesus face-to-face, we can look forward to him saying, “Good job. You were a great ambassador of mine. Here is your reward.” For all eternity – and that’s a very, very long time – you will have tremendous joy because you obeyed.
It's our time!
