Gospel Touchpoints
By Walter Wetzel
How many times were you touched by the Gospel before you trusted the Lord Jesus for your salvation?
I grew up under the instruction of my Christian parents, who lived the Gospel in such a tangible way that it was impossible to deny its truth. By the time I finally started walking with the Lord Jesus at 15, I had been impacted by the Word of God through about 1500 church meetings, 500+ kids’ programs, 150+ youth programs, 5000+ personal Bible readings, and hundreds of active Christians that crossed my path. These numbers are reasonable guesstimates, and it is worthwhile considering them.
I can’t deny that these many Gospel touchpoints were God-inspired, as they all contributed to me being born again – not with a physical birth, but a birth that comes from God (John 1:14). Being born again is a supernatural act of God (John 3:6). The Apostle Paul goes to great lengths (Galatians 1:15-16) to ensure his own salvation is not attributed to anyone but God and His choosing and marvellous grace.
Where does that leave us with our effort to evangelise and witness to the living hope in Christ? Why are we doing mission? Are we off the hook, our responsibility completely lifted? Not at all!
Paul tells us that God has given us this task of reconciliation. For God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, and He entrusted us with this wonderful message of reconciliation. We are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Be reconciled to God!” (2. Cor 5:18-20).
The eternal, living Word of God is being entrusted to us frail sinners and delivered by frail men and women who were cleansed from our sins when we obeyed the truth. God’s Word endures forever and is incorruptible (1 Peter 3:22-25). That word is the Good News that is being preached by all of us given the Great Commission. We carry this incorruptible message, creating Gospel touchpoints at every opportunity, becoming all things to all people so to save some (1 Corinthians 9:22).
Praise God for all the Gospel touchpoints in our lives! Only eternity will reveal how each one worked together to draw us to Christ. The outcome of our testimony is in the Lord’s hands. In our hands is the responsibility to create Gospel touchpoints. Are you creating Gospel touchpoints? Is every interaction reflecting, reinforcing, and reiterating the core message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

Gospel Touchpoints makes a lot of sense! Thanks Walter.
Great article, Walter!
